Epic E-pics

I’m waiting on the professional pictures of the wedding day before I start the recaps, but I might as well give you the engagement picture showcase while I wait! It was a rainy day (that umbrella was the one I keep in the backseat of my car, a happy happenstance), but it really turned out for the best. All photos by Serene Spaces Photography, who fit our budget perfectly.

We started at Dogwood park, which at the time was only the place he proposed. A week or two later we had complications and we moved the wedding to this location. We were the first couple to be married there!

A horse-laughing outtake!

At the gazebo where he proposed, also the site of our first look

Change of location: From park to train depot

Doggy outtakes: "Please don't hurt me!"

Shaking your lawfully-wedded ass

Or, my reception playlist

With the last-minute changes to venue, we were allowed to have dancing music. I asked a friend (also a member of the groomsposse) to make me a playlist that was about 6 hours long. This was way longer than we actually needed, but I wanted the wiggle room. My stipulations were that there were to be “no drugs” and “no sluts.” This is what he came up with, although they weren’t  necesarily played in this order:

Grits- “Ooh Aah

Michael Jackson- “Blame It on the Boogie

Nat King Cole- “L-O-V-E

Justin Timberlake- “Sexyback

Train- “Drops of Jupiter

Plain White Tees- “Our Time Now

Jakob Dylan- “Something Good This Way Comes

Jimmy Buffett and Friends- “Hey, Good Lookin’

Relient K- “In Love with the Eighties (Pink Tux to the Prom)”

Usher- “Yeah

Brooks and Dunn- “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” (During which I did, indeed, do the Boot Scootin’ Boogie)

Loggins and Messina-“Your Mama Don’t Dance

Relient K- “The Best Thing

Rascal Flatts- “I Melt

Michael Jackson- “Beat It

George Jones- “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair

Hawk Nelson- “Bring ‘em Out

KC and the Sunshine Band- “Boogie Shoes

Michael Buble- “Save the Last Dance for Me

Toby Mac- “Love Is in the House

Michael Jackson- “Dirty Diana” (although there was no official father/daughter dance, my dad and I ended up dancing to this one together)

Mumford and Sons- “Little Lion Man

Ke$ha- “Your Love is My Drug

Brooks and Dunn- “Hillbilly Deluxe

Backstreet Boys- “Hey Mister DJ

Disney’s Mulan– “I’ll Make a Man Out of You

Beach Boys- “Good Vibrations

Bob Segar- “Katmandu

Georgia Satellites- “Keep Your Hands to Yourself

Bee Gees- “Stayin’ Alive

Brooks and Dunn- “Play Something Country

Alan Jackson- “Good Time

Big and Rich- “Lost in This Moment

George Jones- “White Lightnin’

Sean Kingston- “Fire Burning

Backstreet Boys- “As Long as You Love Me

Bruno Mars- “Marry You

Bob Segar- “Old Time Rock and Roll

Disney’s Aladdin– “A Whole New World

Backstreet Boys- “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”

Randy Travis- “Forever and Ever, Amen

Flo Rida- “Right Round

Bob Segar- “You’ll Accomp’ny Me

Randy Newman- “You’ve Got a Friend in Me

Cali Swag District- “Teach Me How to Dougie” (radio edit)

Dixie Chicks- “Cowboy, Take Me Away

Train- “Marry Me

Disney’s The Little Mermaid– “Kiss the Girl

Garth Brooks -“Wrapped up in You

Jimmy Buffett- “Margaritaville

Cupid- “Cupid Shuffle

The Beatles- “Twist and Shout

Eiffel 65- “Blue

Wiz Khalifa- “All I Do is Win

Hawk Nelson- “Every Little Thing

ZZ Top- “Sharp Dressed Man

The Beatles- “I Wanna Hold Your Hand

Will Smith- “Switch

Billy Currington- “I Got a Feeling

Frank Sinatra- “Come  Fly With Me

Elvis Presley- “Can’t Help Falling in Love

The Trammps- “Disco Inferno

Blessed Union of Souls- “I Wanna Be There

Zac Brown Band- “Toes

Moulin Rouge soundtrack- “Your Song

Stevie Wonder- “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)”

Toby Mac- “No Ordinary Love

Unfortunately, he lost his mind and added a couple of songs that are decidedly NOT wedding appropriate. Thankfully, with the time buffer I allowed, they never got played.

Trey Songz ft Nicki Minaj- “Bottoms Up

Ke$ha- “Blah Blah Blah

3oh!3- “My First Kiss

Bringing the Heavy

If you are looking for a fun post, skip down the page. This is the least fun post ever.

Being married is terrifying. And HG and I have cried every day. We don’t want to not be married, but we aren’t really handling the enormity of being married very well. Nothing has changed, but everything’s changed. And I’m crying right now trying to tell you about this. He’s still my Favorite, and I’m still his Heart, but we’re scared shitless. And I wish someone would’ve told me how scary it is to be a wife. We knew coming into this that it was Big and that it was Life Changing. Let me tell you this, though, nothing ever ever ever could’ve prepared me for this feeling.  There’s my advice from this side of the aisle. Be prepared to be scared.

48-hour wife

I’m typing this as we’re about to head out for the honeymoon location, so clearly, I thought I had something worthwhile to type about. I’ve been legally bound to this guy for roughly 48 hours now, and I gotta say, I feel mostly the same, but when we went out for breakfast his morning at Cracker Barrel, I felt a kinship with all the older couples sitting there eating their sausage and pancakes. They chatted me up in line, even though we never mentioned our newlywed status. I guess we recognize each other as being on the same team. It’s a pretty great thing to feel.

Here’s a guest photo from the moment right after our “man and wife” kiss:

The last day I’ll get to call myself that. AND IT ROCKS.

See you on the flip side!

Or, to quote one of the greatest movies of my generation:

Yeah. The f-bomb was called for. My guest list dropped by 40% in the span of two days, my dress is still at the alterations place and the lady won’t answer the phone, and we aren’t having a rehearsal dinner. And I will probably have a big bruise on my arm in the morning.

BUT.  There are a lot of good things, too. I’m saving those until after the wedding and I can get a clearer picture of this time.

In the mean time, I gotta have me more boats and hoes.

PS, I get to marry this guy!

Weatherman says it’s gonna be a hot one

And I’m not just on a Josh Turner  kick!

If you haven’t heard, a heat wave is sweeping across the Southeast right now. were in the mid to upper 90’s where we ought to be at least ten degrees cooler. Accuweather is predicting a heat index of over 100 for Friday. Today I called/emailed/facebooked everyone who RSVP’d yes to the wedding to tell them that and encourage them to wear cool clothes.

If you happen to have that situation on your wedding day, I’d encourage you to provide the same courtesy service.
