World’s easiest project

There are 14 individual stained glass windows in the sanctuary of my church.  Since the interior is so pretty (think vaulted ceilings with exposed wooden beams, lantern lights with candle bulbs, deep blue carpet, crisply white and wood pews upholstered with a medium blue velvet, and of course, the stained glass windows– basically lots of clean lines and lovely features) I don’t want to go overboard with the decorations. I’m opting out of pew decor and choosing only altar arrangements and candles in the window.

To make the candles, you’ll need:

Ribbon: 2-3 dollars

White prayer candles: $1 each- mine are from the dollar tree, but they carry them at walmart, kmart, and pretty much any tienda latina.

Tape: (clear) from the desk drawer! Hot glue could also work.

Scissors: from the kitchen’s knife drawer

  1. Knot the ribbon around the candle, about 1/4 (ish) of the way down the candle. Cut from the spool.
  2. Place a small piece of tape under the knot so the ribbon slides less.
  3. Cut notches in the ends of the ribbon.
  4. Eat a cookie.

I made 14 candles in about an hour– including the cookie.

Total cost: $17 and the ribbon wasn’t even all gone!
